In April 1991, when Marie Christine set up a school in Hyderabad, she wanted to be able to help disadvantaged children as well. She was able to start a simple scholarship program for a few children in her school. Her parents, brothers and sisters were eager to join her and together they started an epic journey and helped her bring about a bold project : the Marica project. Very quickly, word of mouth increased the number of sympathizers leading to the creation of the first association in France : ” les AMIS de MARICA SCHOOL ” ( the FRIENDS of MARICA SCHOOL) , in 2002. The number of supporters and friends continued to grow over the years resulting in the formation of two more associations in the UK ( Friends of Marica) and in Switzerland (Pro Marica).
Through the support of these associations, the Marica schools and projects in and around Hyderabad, in India, have been able to grow and provide education, support and medical help to children in need. Over the years, their support has provided school buildings and infrastructure, school busses, school uniforms, books, medical care, and scholarships.
